my future
:
"I ain't happy,I'm feelin' glad
I've got sunshine,in a bag
I'm useless,but not for long
The future is coming on,
is coming on
is coming on.
My future,is coming on
is coming on
is coming on."
- The final stanza (abridged) of Clint Eastwood,a song from the Gorillaz (first phase)
That's how I feel now.
Beside the Ronin concert, which I'm in not much mood to write (Vivi, how could you!),and English oral today, which was ok (that rhymed!),I've come to the topic of my FUTURE.
Wow.Big word.
I've been hiding from it for a looooooooooooooooooooooooong time.
And I know this because I don't even know what junior college I want to go to yet.
REALLY!
That aside,I know I want to enter theatre,(Broadway now seems so far away since I'm seriously talking about my future,oh no...)but I've got to find a place to study it.
Dunno yet,but it can't be Kyung Hee.
RADA perhaps?
That's in London,where everything's really expensive.
NIDA,in Australia?
Maybe.
Sorry Naomi,but you'll be alone for a while.But hey,that's what MSN is for,isn't it?
THEATRE ROCKS!
but of course!
I'm planning my module now!
Taking the University Of Plattsburgh's module as an example, there is a compulsory theatre core module, which will give me 13 credits. This core involves stagecraft,an introduction to acting, playwriting, three practicums(is that grammatically sound?),and a junior seminar.
(running total=13 cr.)
After that there are electives in performance.I have to choose two from creative drama, voice acting, movement study, story dramatisation, scene study, dance and creative process, acting technique and styles of acting.I think it'll be acting technique and creative drama (voice acting being the next best sub).
(running total=13+3+3 cr.)
then electives in production.i've to choose two from production design, visual styles in theatre, and one more which i'd never take and hence wouldn't need to type.
(running total=19+3+4 cr.)
then the electives in dramatic literature/history.two have to be chosen from the intro to theatre art, american drama, theatre history, performance and spectator, modern drama from 1880-1925 and world drama from 1925.i'll probably take theatre history (gasp!history!) and performance and spectator, the next best sub being introduction to theatre art.
(running total=26+4+3 cr.)
after that is the capstone requirement, where there is a compulsory senior project, which awards 3 credits.
(running total=33+3 cr.)
this will leave me with 36 credits, not counting the electives in theatre after that, which one needs to do to come to a total of 42.
both will be taken from the electives in theatre performance, namely acting with the voice and styles of acting.(DIE HISTORY DIE!)
a theatre degree will get me a job in acting,or theatre,or production, and stuff like that.
Or I could be a teacher.(Like Mr Sng. :$)
Nah,not an option.(I wouldn't teach for T.T. Durai's salary.)
I'll go into Singaporean theatre. There's lots to be done there.
I do hope I can get in.
(Inner Vivi:Don't hope,DO IT!YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!)
